Self-care & safety skills

1. Social-Emotional

  • Goal: Feeling safe, secure, learning to express emotions, early social skills.
  • Activities: Circle time with songs/games, puppet play with emotions, simple sharing activities, lots of positive reinforcement.
  • Why: This is the FOUNDATION. A toddler who feels loved and understood will learn better in all areas.

2. Language Development

  • Goal: Expanding vocabulary, understanding simple instructions, early literacy.
  • Activities: Reading aloud (lots!), singing songs with actions, naming objects, simple storytelling with props, fingerplays.
  • Why: Language is how they understand the world. Rich exposure now is linked to later success.

3. Cognitive

  • Goal: Problem-solving, early math concepts, cause-and-effect.
  • Activities: Shape sorters, simple puzzles, stacking blocks, sensory bins (with safe items!), exploring different textures.
  • Why: Their brains are making connections like crazy! We provide the "ingredients" for that.

4. Physical

  • Goal: Gross motor skills (big movements), fine motor (small movements), coordination.
  • Activities: Outdoor play (running, climbing), indoor obstacle courses, dancing, drawing/painting, playing with playdough.
  • Why: Bodies need to move! This helps with everything from brain development to emotional regulation.

5. Creative

  • Goal: Self-expression, imagination, exploring different materials.
  • Activities: Art (painting, drawing, collage), music (singing, playing instruments), pretend play, dress-up.
  • Why: Creativity isn't just "art", it's how they problem-solve, make sense of things, and develop their own unique view.
